In specific instances regulation allows the use of some form of manual fire alarm or alert system. This could be something as simple as a hand operated rotary bell, a metal triangle, or air powered devices such as a hand held horn. There are also battery operated devices that can be interlinked, such as a Fike Boxer alarm, or Howler site alarms.
Such applications need to be approved so that they do comply to the appropriate parts of BS5839.
