Make sure to check if your installation will require an EN54 Part 23 compliant VAD (Visual Alarm Device). Where the primary alarm mechanism is visual a VAD will be required. Driven by the disability legislation, where light is used as a primary warning it must now be effective in alerting the deaf or hard of hearing to the emergency.

This also applies to areas with high ambient noise. Where workers are wearing ear defenders, or environments where music is played for the benefit of the employees, the same need can arise.
